Why should I choose to work with you?

I wanted to speak a little about my own experiences & how working with me will help you to achieve your goals.

I was always a huge procrastinator. I knew what I had to do - from studying the work I knew the answers (most of the time...!) but, putting pen to paper when completing my psychology degree back in 2000 was always met with resistance.

It was a standing joke with friends - if they called by & suddenly I had moved my furniture around, or redecorated & sorted the understairs cupboard for the tenth time... Their question was always "What's due in?!"

When I went back to complete a PGCE in 2007 similar things happened. It always resulted in having to work through the night in the days before the deadline to get it done - which wasn't ideal as a single mum of 2 also working part time.

It cropped up in other aspects of my life, when I began working as an adult tutor in 2009 I would have days where I could create amazing resources for my students - but it would often end in a mad rush to get them ready before sessions as I found myself lost down several rabbit holes as I was researching things or getting distracted by anything..!

But, after developing a chronic illness back in 2011 I realised how important it was to use my energy wisely. I learned how to get what I needed to get done without burning all the energy that I had that day. I also came top understand that as an introvert & as someone who processes information a little differently - becoming distracted so easily, I realised that my brain works differently & I'm actually undergoing assessment for ADHD.

This understanding proved very helpful when I trained as a counsellor & again when I undertook a Masters in Counselling & Psychotherapy Practice. During the 1st year a lot of the procrastinating patterns came back & I almost quit. I had gone as far as telling my supervisor that I couldn't do it anymore - but my determination (some call it my stubbornness) motivated me enough to keep going.

And the end result? For our final year we had to complete a dissertation. I was terrified! I knew that the pressure would probably trigger my procrastination behaviours. So I decided to implement all that I had learned over the years & I actually completed the dissertation 9 months early & 4 months before anyone else in my cohort!

And, it wasn't a rush job... I achieved a Distinction for it!

I wanted to share some of these things with you because sometimes when we look at others who may be a little further ahead or who are already doing the work that we dream of - we can assume that they just have their shi!t together & don't struggle.

Since setting up my coaching business I have experienced times when my perfectionism or self-doubt has cropped up & stopped me in my tracks. But by doing the inner work I know when I need to take that step back & look at everything in a birds eye view. Being able to step back from the emotions attached to building my own dreams enabled me to approach my work in a way that lessened the stress & overwhelm & got me to where I am today.

Since 2019 I have helped my partner set up his construction company, I run payroll, do the accounts & all of the behind the scenes jobs that are involved with running a Ltd company - all I don't do is the actual digging!

At the same time I grew my online counselling practice & have consistently welcomed new clients since then. All of this alongside working as a mentor for university students & building my coaching business over the past year!

Dreams are possible - we just need to learn how to approach them in a way that fits who we are.

I wanted to share a few facts about me, to give you a better idea of who I am, but you can also connect with me on social media where I post quite a lot as well 😊

  • I'm 47 & have two 'boys' aged 27 & 21 they both live at home with myself & my partner Neil.

  • I have a gorgeous dog called Freddy & he is my 💙 He's 12 now & allergic to grass 🤷🏼‍♀️ amongst (many) other things & is the best character!

  • I've lived in my home town area my whole life, but my dream is to live closer to the sea in a few years time.

  • I 💙 a murder documentary (thanks mum!) so this is my go-to for relaxing & for fictional tv it's Vera - I 💙 Vera!

  • I was a massive Oasis fan from the early 90's & have seen them quite a few times at Glastonbury. The 1st time was in 1995 & I actually lost my shoe near the front of the crowd during their set... My sister had to come & drop off another pair for me - the joys of living locally 😅

You will be able to cancel the remainder of your programme. This means that if you really do feel that it's not being helpful - and you have been showing up doing the work & being 100% committed to the process yourself, then within the 1st 28 days you can cancel future sessions.

FAQs

When will we start?

We can begin as quickly as we book you in! It could be in 2 days or up to 21 days time. Once you have paid your deposit I will be in touch to book our 1st call!

What if I'm not sure yet?

I totally understand & I want you to be 100% sure so I offer a FREE 30-minute call where you can ask anything you'd like about it & how I work. It's good to get to know the person you're going to work with - so these calls are so important!

There is zero pressure & I never sell to you during these calls - it's a conversation & you can then take as much time as you need after the call to decide what you want to do - so no pressure at all. As a therapist as well, I fully believe in working ethically & authentically.

What happens if I change my mind?

I'm confident that you will get so much out of our time together, however I understand that life can chuck things at us!

If something crops up or you have a change of heart before we start working together you will be able to cancel future payments with only your deposit will not be returned (to cover admin & time costs).

For 4,8 & 12 week coaching packages, future payments can be cancelled within the 1st 7 days or up until our 1st call (whichever is sooner). If you paid in full, a partial refund will be given for the remaining sessions.

For 6 months + packages, if you decide after we have begun working together & within 28 days of signing up, then you will be able to cancel future sessions.

After 28 days there is no refund available. You will continue to be invoiced for your sessions (if you choose the payment plan) as agreed in the contract.

For those who have purchased the longer term 1-1 packages, there will be an admin fee as follows:

6 month (24 wk) - (Total paid = 1 payment upfront + 1 payment @28 days + 1 payment of £100 to cover admin costs & access to downloadable resources, payable immediately).

12 month (Full year) - an additional 1 month payment required. (Total = 1 payment upfront + 1 payment @28 days + 1 payment of £175 to cover admin costs & access to downloadable resources payable immediately).

Will our sessions be on the same day / time each week?

The beauty of running my own business from home means I can offer some flexibility with this. I keep a relatively small number of clients at one time to ensure that I can give 100% of me, my energy & my focus to each of you individually.

I do therefore have some wiggle room most weeks which is great if we are in different time zones or you work shifts / have children to look after etc.

Sticking to the same day & time is preferred as it helps with your consistency but there is flexibility when needed.

If you select one of the longer term packages (6 or 12 months) then a regular slot will be important for both of us - with some flexibility of course. Plus the sessions will not always be weekly within these packages so there's plenty of room for holidays etc. without it impacting our work together.

Will we look at my mindset / emotional stresses as well?

Oh yes! This is actually what we begin with. The reason we begin with our mindset & stressors is because of the impact stress has upon our entire life. It impacts us physically as well as mentally & can be one of the biggest obstacles to overcome when working towards goals.

Often those I work with come to me with no balance at all in their lives. They do as much as they are physically able to before they just crash & feel they are not getting anywhere. Projects are left unfinished & new ones started which increases the feeling of "I can't do this"Being able to improve our mental wellbeing is a key factor in successfully managing our physical & mental wellbeing & being able to successfully work towards your goals.We take a look at your current life, your beliefs, dreams & values. We explore the blocks you're facing & we work towards removing these.

Once these foundations are explored you'll have a much clearer idea of why you may hold yourself back / self-sabotage or procrastinate. It's a really useful place to start from - but your goals will be the focus from day one 🙌🏻

You may not need to spend too much time on this - it may simply take our 1st sessions before we crack on with action taking planning

Are there other ways I can work with you?

Yes! There are a few other ways:

1-1 Coaching:

Bundles of 3 or 6 sessions.

These are a great option if you don't want to focus on achieving specific goals but want to work 1-1 with me. Please get in touch to find out more.

One-Off sessions. (60 or 90 Minutes)

These are great if you need to gain clarity; resolve a specific issue. Perhaps you need support getting 100% clear on a goal; creating a dynamic action plan that works for you. *(Add-ons for Voxer support available for one off sessions)

Voxer Coaching.

Voxer is a text based app where we can send messages via text / documents / voice notes etc.

I provide intensive voxer support where we have a 1-1 Zoom call followed by 4 or 8 weeks of Voxer support (Mon-Fri) & another 30 minute Zoom call at the end!
